SAFETY!

Our thanks go out to the Gooners for their trashing of Wigan to ensure our safety in the Premiership. But this would never have been possible without the amazing form the Villa lads have maintained for about a month. Surely signs of greater things to come for next season!

To Owe Great Thanks

Villa boys held on for a draw versus West Brom on Saturday. Several thank you's are in order:

(1) Shay Given - great save to maintain the clean sheet
(2) Chelsea - for beating QPR 6-1
(3) Tottenham - for beating Blackburn

Now what?

Nil-nil draw to bottom-dweller Wigan. Bent injured. Keane leaving. Today's game was 90+7 mins of frustration and wishing we received points for errant passes. Sigh. The ongoing strategy of playing defense and kicking the hail mary long ball has got to stop. It's like watching a hockey game and Villa's opponent is always on the "power play". Clearing the zone for a 2-min hockey penalty is one thing, but using this defensive strategy for the entire game at full-strength? C'mon now.

Sweet Victory! Villa 2-nil over Wigan

"Gabby Gabby Gabby Gabby Gabby Agbonlahor!" was heard throughout Villa Park as Gabby led Villa with a goal and an assist to Darren Bent as Villa breaks it open for a 2-nil win and 3 crucial points. Wigan didn't test Shay Given much and Gabby took over on offense with his pace and power!

Two in a row! Villa defeats Wigan 2-1

6 points in two games - how sweet it is! Gabby Agbonlahor and Ashley Young (PK) scored for Villa and the defense just holds on to beat Wigan after they scored late in the game. The Villa is showing what this team is capable of and let's keep it going! Jean Makoun's debut today included receiving a yellow card.

Our Villa boy's fought and were rewarded with 3 points today after defeating Wigan Athletic 2-1. These critical points keep us right in there for a chance at breaking into the top 4. Milner scored the game winner in the 2nd half.

Villa vs. Wigan...."live" on FSC; Villa vs. Wolves "live" on ESPN2

Our Villa boys take on Wigan Athletic on Tuesday, March 16th and it will be televised "live" on Fox Soccer Channel here in the States. Kick-off is 12:30pm Pacific (3:30pm Eastern)

On Saturday March 20th, Villa takes on Woverhampton and it will be televised "live" on ESPN2 (8:30am Eastern = 5:30am Pacific)!

How Did You Become a Villa Supporter?

"I wonder how many fans are actually originally from Birmingham or surrounding area. I am and I'm always interested if someone isn't from near Villa Park, why did they pick Villa as the team to follow." .............................................................................................. "I like Rick's story, he picked Villa as they were 'sponsored' by Acorns Children's Hospice at the time, a cause close to Rick's heart."..................................................................................................................... "I was born in Solihull (12 miles south of Villa Park) and my older bro turned me into a Villa supporter"................................................................................................................ "I am originally from Vauxhall (Birmingham B7) and have followed the Villa since my dad took me to see a game at Villa Park on my 4th birthday. I was a season ticket holder at VP from 1968 until I moved over here twelve years ago."........................................................................................................................"I am from Halesowen which is right next to the black country. Which is tesco carrier bag territory. However my dad is from the city and he always took me and my brother to villa games. When I started following the league almost everyone was a Liverpool fan for the same reason almost everyone now is a United, City, or Chelsea fan. Not being someone who follows the crowd I wanted to support a team that was unique and different.
